Charles Jones  was a Principal Investigator in the original MDS(X) Project, and is now a  Professor of Sociology at the University of Toronto. He studied at Cambridge University, the London School of Economics and Edinburgh University. He has long standing scholarly interests in family, social mobility, work and occupations, occupational prestige etc. as well as in social science research methods. He is interested in applications of multidimensional scaling to data from large scale social surveys, particularly the "mapping" of different kinds of employment relationships.
