David
Muxworthy was a Principal Investigator in the original MDS(X) Project and
is now Technical Support Manager at the Edinburgh University Computing
Services. His main contribution technically was to polish up the
Fortran code and 'productize' it for release 3.1 and 3.2. He also
organized distribution of the source world-wide in the 1970s and 1980s. He
comments: “There was substantial progress in the late 1980s with version
3.3,with free format command input, but it has lain uncompleted and has
been overtaken by the switch to desktop machines. I am keen to see
the user interface modernized”.
