NewMDSX Support - Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can both Logarithmic and Linear transformations be performed in the same run of MRSCAL?

Although both options are available in the Input Wizard for MRSCAL the program will only run one transformation at a time. Re-run the data for each transformation if both are required.

2. Why , when using WOMBATS with "Dichotomous" level of measurement, does the program fail to run even though my values are dichotomous?

The only dichotomous values WOMBATS will accept are 0,1. If you have other values such as 1,2 you will need to re-code them into 0,1 values.

3. When I add labels either to the Wizard''s input file matrix or into the run script, my points still only have numbers rather than full labels. How can I display the full label?

This is probably because your label variables start with a number, i.e. 1 name, 2 age. To display the label text omit the number; i.e. name, age. Note that in the Graphic Display screen you can use the "Label" command to determine the number of characters in each label and to change the font and point size.

4. When I click in my output file to create a graphic I get the error message " '*' is not a valid floating point value" and no graphic is produced. Why?

This occurs if you have insufficient labels for the number of stimuli; e.g. 16 stimuli but 15 labels. In this example if you check the output file you will see that the value for Label 16 is '*', and hence the error message.

5. When I click in my output file to create a graphic I get the error message " '' is not a valid floating point value" and no graphic is produced. Why?

This occurs if one or more of your labels contain a "space"; e.g. "manual labourer". Either omit the space or use an underscore e.g.  "manuallabourer" or "manual_labourer".
