"Multidimensional Scaling refers to a family of models where the structure in a set of data is represented graphically by the relationships between a set of points in a space. MDS can be used on a variety of data, using different models and allowing different assumptions about the level of measurement. (A. P. M. Coxon (2004), Multidimensional Scaling in M.S. Lewis-Beck, A. Bryman, T. F. Liao, The Sage Encyclopedia of Social Science Research Methods, Thousand Oaks, Sage.)
This site is dedicated to the memory of Anthony Peter Macmillan Coxon, the founder and primary author of this site and one of the foremost international proponents of Multidimensional Scaling.
