MS-DOS VERSION SV4
This
version of the MDSX Library of multidimensional scaling programs (SV4)
runs in the MS-DOS operating system and has been superseded by the Windows
version. Each
program is available for free download but we
do not offer technical support.
The
MS-DOS version offers
MODULARISED
the programs, so that instead of taking the entire library, you may choose which modules/programs you want to download. Each is a
self-contained unit. |
The
programs are a subset of an earlier version, and do not include:
MINI-CPA, PARAMAP, MVNDS or CONCOR. These are rarely-used programs,
but are still available on request, and are part of the SV3
Zipped download of MDSX.
The
programs have been re-tested, and often include new test input data.
Each
module/ unit contains: |
The
.exe file which implements the program [given the suffix .oxo since
some email systems will not accept a downloaded .exe file. After
receipt, rename the file as .exe]. We do not issue source versions of
programs except to collaborating teams.
The
test input data file for this program (as a .txt file)
The
test output file from the run of the program on the test input data
(as a .txt file). If necessary change the font to Courier and 7pt to
prevent wrap-around.
The
documentation for this program. All files are in .pdf format. |
Documentation consists of:
Program Notes on the program, which explain where the program
originates, what it does, what data are appropriate, what the
documentation consists of, what the test data are, together with
Comments, Hints and References, together with a note on the
program’s usage and stability. This is the file to read if you are
trying to decide whether or not to download a program. |
The
relevant chapter from the pre-Windows version of MDS(X) User Manual (The “Red Book”), which
gives technical detail about the program, including a specification
of the relevant parameters. |
Relevant
section/s from The User’s Guide to Multidimensional Scaling (First
Edition) explaining the methodology and operation of the program and its
applications. In addition, there are sometimes:
Special
Working Papers, or sections from the Reader Key Texts in
Multidimensional Scaling, associated with the program.
There
is also a PRELIMINARY section, containing information on How to run
the programs, Run-time error codes etc.
